HISTORY & INTRO

In or around 1850 the Farmers Arms opened as a beerhouse with the first Landlord being Mr John Postles. The Bowling Green was constructed in 1885 and 19years later Rudheath Bowling Club became one of eight founding members of the newly formed Mid Cheshire Crown Green Bowling League finishing 8th in the first season. In 1907 Mr E Stubbs became the leagues average winner, winning 14 of his 18 games with Mr J Harper also of Rudheath finishing runner-up. However the team finish 8th again.
1913 saw the Rudheath Club Cup being played for the first time, the winner being Mr T Platt. In 1924 Rudheath won the Littler Cup, winning it again in 1930. They also managed to triumph in section 2, four times in 1926,30,38 and 1945.
Around 1946 the team became the Farmers Arms Bowling Club until 2008 and due to the fact the Farmers Arms Public House closed in 2004.

2008 saw the begining of a new era as Farmer Arms Bowling Club was taken under the wing of Rudheath Social Club and it's first season saw promotion and honners including the Afternoon Norley Div 7 title from the "B" team.
The extensive work done during 2007/8 by the RSC and the green keeping skills from Sid Alcock was well recognised in winning the best kept green award, and the ongoing work behind the scenes (clerical and physical) shows that with a willingness to build a strong foundation the bowls section of Rudheath Social Club should be a major force in the coming years.
