Rudheath Social F.C. history

The club was formed 15 years ago and predominately they spent their early years in the lower reaches of the second and third divisions, led by club stalwart John Watt the team suffered a few double figure defeats, but fortunately the club kept going, and as you read on its due to there time and effort the club has seen some great success.

They gained promotion from the old third division in the season 2000/2001 when they finished runners-up to Boars Head, As the team improved with the injection of some younger blood, the following season saw them claim the second division title this time at the expense of Boars Head, they also won won the league supplementary cup beating Hanging Gate on penalties.
Under the guidance of Tommy Yeadon and Steve Clarke the clubs progression to the premier league was secured the following season when they finished runners-up to Middlewich Sutton, so in three seasons the club had seen three promotions and a cup final win along the way, which was an excellent achievement.
Life in the premier proved to be a little harder and whilst consolidating their position in the league trophies were hard to find, at the end of the 2006/2007 season Tommy and Steve stepped down and Mike Alcock and Peter Lewis took over the reigns for the start of the 2007/2008 season, they added to the squad and with the mixture of the old and the new the season turned into a memorable one.
Their first major trophy was won on the never to be forgotten day when they beat ST Joseph's 4-3 at Barton Stadium Winsford to lift the district cup the result was even more remarkable as with eight minutes to go Rudheath found themselves 3-1 down, but Gary Bryning's hat-trick and Stuarts Tulloch's injury time winner saw the trophy return to Northwich.
There was still one trophy to play for 'THE HOLY GRAIL' the one everyone wanted to win THE PREMIER LEAGUE TITLE and it was won as Rudheath went through the whole season winning every game which had only been done once before in 1982 a truly remarkable feat.
Mike and Peter stepped down at the end of the season and handed over the team affairs to Peter Gibbon and John O'Sullivan and again this season is proving even more successful.
